Best Luxury Hotels In York - The Luxury Editor
"They say location is everything, and whether you’re in York for a romantic weekend break, or to explore the city’s historical past, Greys Court Hotel makes the ideal location from which to base your activities. Steeped in history, and with parts of its architecture dating back to the late 11th century it appears squeezed between the Minster and the Treasurer’s House. However, once through the hotel’s entrance, the connotation with squeezed ends, and you can enjoy the luxurious, historically romantic ambiance that Greys Court Hotel offers, along with all the modern conveniences you would expect from a high-end establishment."

The best luxury hotels in York
"This hotel, in arguably York's smartest address, positively vibrates with the past, from its medieval stone-flagged entrance hall and leaded windows to the bow-windowed Georgian dining room and 90ft long, Jacobean, oak-panelled gallery on the first floor. It feels elegant but relaxed, with a mix of English and French antiques, modern sofas and contemporary artwork and reportage photography. Fireplaces and leaded windows add character to the rooms while Jo Malone diffusers and thick curtains add luxury."

The award-winning hotel and restaurant located behind the Minster is the perfect place for a luxurious drink in one of the most beautiful court gardens in York."

York foodie guide: where locals eat and drink
"One of York’s newest restaurants has been causing quite a stir across the UK. After seriously starry stints at Northcote, Pipe and Glass and The Star Inn at Harome (along with extensive travels in Asia) half-Indian chef Neil Bentinck has returned to his hometown of York to open contemporary small plates restaurant, Skosh (the name is a reference to the Japanese word ‘sukoshi’, meaning ‘a small amount’). The restaurant’s modern interiors combine pine tables with bold yellow and grey paintwork and fabrics."

The best restaurants York has to offer
"What: Skosh is neither big nor flashy, and yet you’ll always find it near, if not at the top of review websites and locals’ list of their favourite restaurants in the city. The reasons for this are many, though super-friendly staff and wow-factor food are probably the most important two. Small plates influenced by international flavours are the essence of Skosh, so expect a palate-teasing menu full of creativity."

The Best Restaurants in York
"Yet another restaurant in York that opened within the last 5 years. It’s the brainchild of passionate chef Neil Bentinck who chose a spectacular Grade II listed building as the venue back in 2016. Just beyond Micklegate Bar, it’s in a great location if you’re wanting to stay central and what’s more, the food is great so you won’t be disappointed."

"Lotte Inch Gallery first came to York in 2012 in the form of a pop-up art gallery space – but many glorious years later and after several small pop-up exhibitions, the gallery moved from its previous space near York Minster to its current location in bustling 14 Bootham. The eponymous Lotte comes from a background in Art History and Heritage, having worked for The National Trust; Scampston Hall and Gardens; and The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery at The University of Leeds, amongst others – making her a mastermind when it comes to art. The gallery is the ideal place to discover new artists, designers and makers, alongside established names and figures, hoping to be a “welcoming and inclusive place with a regularly changing programme of exhibitions."

The best restaurantsof italian in York Yorkshire and The Humber
"09/06/2021: We always come here when we want the proper Italian experience. The restaurant is always full and has a great buzzy atmosphere,With people laughing and enjoying themselves, it is a happy place. The menu is varied and has a great selection of dishes to choose from.We have a few starters which we all share and may be a pizza , which is made with homemade dough and cooked in a wood burning pizza oven so it has that wonderful smoky taste. Then we have steaks , we have a few and share them with some potatoes which are simply amazing and some sauces. The steaks are chargrilled which is the best way to cook steak in my opinion and they have such a great taste and are so tender and always cooked to perfection. For dessert again we have a selection which we all help ourselves to the Ricotta cheese cake is fantastic and so is the Tiramisu. The service is relaxed and friendly as you would expect from a small Italian restaurant. What makes the place different from other Italian restaurants is that it has a soul and of course Paolo the man himself. He makes the place with his wonderful personality and welcoming attitude , nothing is too much trouble for him.So if you want a great authentic Italian experience with fantastic food, cooked well and great service, this is the place to go. 09/06/2021: The owner Paolo is a rear character. He brings such a fun and warm atmosphere to the restaurant."

11 amazing restaurants you won't want to miss in York
"Two things are ‘God’ in chef Paolo Silesu’s rustic Italian restaurant: food and Juventus Football Club. The place is always full of in-the-know foodies and students taking advantage of the reasonably priced menu, but it only adds to the noisy authenticity. Pizzas and pastas make up the bulk of the menu but the regularly changing specials board features Sardinian highlights such as cozze e vongole (mussels and clams cooked in Vernaccia wine with chilli and garlic) or sardines with pesto rosso (pan-seared with onions, rocket and red pesto)."
